Shawn Mendes will make his big-screen acting debut in Ivan Reitman's musical Summer of Love, according to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter.

Reitman has enlisted the fellow Canadian star to partake in the project, which is being shopped to various studios. This marks Reitman's directorial debut for a musical. However, it won't be the 18-year-old Vine-turned-chart-topper's first film role, as he voiced a character in the 2013 animated film, Underdogs

Plot details for Summer of Love are unknown, but many folks are assuming that it's in reference to the summer of 1967 when hippies demonstrated their opposition to the Vietnam War in San Francisco. During that summer, several famous acts like The Who, Grateful Dead and Jimi Hendrix performed in Northern California.
