The Transformers production crew returns to Chicago next month to shoot scenes for the fourth movie saga. Paramount Pictures requested a permit to the City Council to film on a vacant Southeast Side location as The Chicago Tribune reported. The filming will take place from August 18th through September 27th.

Several major Chicago downtown avenues were shut down for the filming of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” to recreate explosions, and massive chases during the summer of 2010. This prequel to the fourth installment became one of the most profitable movies of all time surpassing the billion dollar mark worldwide.

Chicagoans might get a glimpse of actor Mark Wahlberg, who was casted for the lead role by the film’s director Michael Bay. There is a scheduled casting call for paid extras at the Skokie Holiday Inn this Friday and Saturday.
