The Chicago River is Getting Wilder

Great news Chicago, the Chicago River is getting wilder, and that is some of the best news about the river in a good while. The change to a wilder river is marked by the launching of buoyant gardens, the latest in the series of floating wetlands in the North Branch Canal as part of the newly named “Wild Mile”.

The buoyant gardens along with other efforts across the years have helped the river become the healthiest it has ever been in the past 50 years. Some notable signs of improvement include the resurgence of native plants in the area and the return of native wildlife, like bees, butterflies, fish, and turtles.

Along with bringing back native species, invasive ones have been taken out and maintained. If you want to know more about the revival of the Chicago river, Head on over to the full story here. Enjoy your revitalized river chicago and let's all try to keep it clean together!
