Monarch Butterfly Migration.

Over the next couple of weeks keep an eye out in your garden for a friendly traveler passing by, the traveler being the Monarch Butterfly.

As we near autumn, the Monarch Butterfly is beginning its annual migration south for the winter. Lucky for all of us, Chicago is one of those stops, with multiple waves expecting to arrive during the next couple of weeks. For those looking to spot big waves of them, take some advice from Doug Taron, the chief curator for the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

Taron suggests staying near floral nectar, on the grounds of the Nature Museum where the butterflies have been gathering already, and by the lakefront where butterflies tend to use coastal winds to assist with the migration.

If you want to know more about the Monarch Migration, where to spot them, or just want to know why there are so many butterflies in your backyard, head on over to the main article here.
